Let’s be honest, if you’re the hosting type, which is probably how you found yourself here, St. Patrick’s Day just does not get enough love from us, right? It’s often brushed off with a few decorations, a cute outfit, and going out for drinks. But we’ve been there and done that, so let’s try something new. Let’s throw a Lucky Girl Party for St. Patrick’s Day.

What’s A Lucky Girl?
A lucky girl is any person who considers themself to have Lucky Girl Syndrome, which, despite its name, is not gender specific. So what’s Lucky Girl Syndrome? It’s the belief that if you consistently tell the universe that you are so lucky, and get all the things you wish for, that those things will come true.
While it essentially boils down to manifesting and positive thinking, there was a flood of people on social media showing people exactly how to be a Lucky Girl and how it worked out for them. Lucky Girl Syndrome did have one essential flaw which is to remember to be realistic when life, ultimately, gets real. It left out how to respond when the luck didn’t land your way.
So, I propose we rethink being a Lucky Girl as something that happens to us and instead consider a Lucky Girl the result of what we set out to do. This means keeping the positive mindset, the manifesting, the belief that you will have all your heart’s desires, but also adding in some plans, some contingencies, and some coping mechanisms for when things don’t go your way.
Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day
Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, at least in the U.S., usually consists of wearing green and drinking, a lot, which is quite reductionist, but nonetheless fun. However, a key component of St. Patrick’s Day is the concept of luck. Whether that’s lucky in love or lucky enough not to get pinched ( a result of not wearing green), it’s a day of embracing luck.
So, what better day to craft and create a day around embracing and creating your own luck? Especially if you can make it a collective event amongst your family and friends. The more luck, the better, right? The color scheme is already there waiting for you, there are plenty of thematic things in stores to help you bring your vision together, and the weather is usually beginning to make a turn, brightening people’s moods.
Now, the only problem that stands in your way is that most St. Patrick’s Day celebrations are curated for kids or kitsch. There are not many guides on how to do St. Patrick’s Day in a poignant, but more subtle way, for lack of better words, in a classier way. This guide will help you throw an effortlessly chic St. Patrick’s Day party that embraces all things Lucky Girl. From a dinner party to brunch with your friends, to sipping and making vision boards, here are all the ways you can throw the best Lucky Girl St. Patrick’s Day party.

Vibes and Invitations

The best thing you can do for any event you are orchestrating is to set the tone early and well. Setting the tone early means communicating the feel of the event from the earliest interaction with your guests. This can be just telling them, “Hey, the vibe is laid back and the color scheme is green, gold, and white”. This can also mean communicating the vibe with your invite, which is often the first point of contact guests have with the event.
For a Lucky Girl Party and for a St. Patrick’s Day party, you have a few cool things you can choose to covey the theme. Everything from elegant traditional invitations in the colors to something interactive such as invitations inside of a fortune cookie.
Don’t forget to offer up some visuals, either on the physical invitation or a page on a digital invite, or share a link to a Pinterest board inspired by your party. Here is our Lucky Girl Pinterest Board if you’d like some inspiration!
How To Decorate for St. Patrick’s Day and The Lucky Girl Theme
The key to keeping with the St. Patrick’s Day theme without going over into cornyland will be to keep the green in moderation and well-balanced. Despite how tempting it is, you don’t want every single thing your guests touch to be green. Instead, you want to make key aspects green and consider adding white and gold accents like candlesticks and cutlery. If you do a white tablecloth, do green and white dishware, but if you do a green tablecloth, consider only white and gold dishware.
A stylish way to bring in green without being cliché or kitschy is to adorn the space with lots of flowers and natural greenery. It will allow you to vary the shades of green while also having some florals, preferably white, to break up the green. It will also add life and character to the space.
You don’t have to abandon the motifs associated with St. Patrick’s Day altogether, just ground the more in reality and keep them to a minimum. Instead of clovers everywhere, try adding your greenery in the form of florals, and then decorate the plates with a small clover place card. You will have other opportunities to show these things as well, so don’t give all the responsibility to your decor. Think outside the box, like garnishing your cocktails with a small edible clover, or a piece of spinach cut into the shape of a small clover.

What to Do at A Lucky Girl Party
Activities are not a requirement at a party, however, they do facilitate conversation and make it easier to occupy time and work really well when you are already working with a theme. With a theme like Lucky Girl, you have so many fun ways to spin it; here are some.
DIY Charm Jewelry
There has never been a more apt time to talk about charm jewelry. Charm bracelets and charm necklaces are having a huge moment right now, and they are synonymous with good luck and creating your own luck. You can create a DIY station for all of your guests to pick out personalized charms and create their own charm jewelry. It only requires a few materials and tools. If your crowd isn’t the DIY crowd, you can also purchase customized charm jewelry for your guests as gifts.

Sip and Envision -Vision Boards and Cocktails
Grab some magazines from thrift stores or newer ones from the stores, along with some printouts, and some stickers and add-ons from the craft store, and set up a vision board station where your guests can create their own lucky vision right in front of them. You can keep it simple and put them on some pieces of cardstock, or grab some poster boards from the dollar store if you want something more substantial. If you’d like, you can even provide frames so that your guests are encouraged to hang their vision boards somewhere important to them.
Take the time to enjoy one another’s company and really focus on what it is you want from your Lucky Girl Syndrome. Take time to reflect on what is important to you and what you want to welcome into your life, and what you will do if that doesn’t work out the first time around.
Be sure to provide drinks, preferably ones that complement the theme, cocktails and mocktails alike. This will also make your guests more comfortable and get them into the mood for crafting.
If physical vision boards are not your thing, gather around with your drinks and create digital vision boards on Canva or Pinterest, and then discuss them and share them with one another. A good Pinterest board never fails, I mean, here’s the one for this party concept. What do you think?

Bouquet Arrangement
Create a bouquet creation station for guests so they can embrace the incoming spring season while also creating their own something green to fit the St. Patrick’s Day theme. Grab a variety of flowers from your local florist, Trader Joe’s, or Publix, being sure to grab plenty of green and white. Set them up in some water so they last and then provide guests with everything they will need to put together their own bouquets. Grab some floral wire, floral tape, and floral scissors to be sure they have everything they could need to customize and curate. Don’t forget to grab something to put them in, like vases or floral wrapping paper. Now, your guests have an experience and something beautiful to take home.

Mini Cake/ Cookie Decorating
The best type of activity is always one where you eat in the end. Want something fun and interactive that covers dessert as well? Plate up some ready-to-decorate mini cakes or sugar cookies, along with everything you’d want to decorate them with, and let guests customize their own treats. Grab some frosting, sprinkles, edible flowers, and anything else you can think of, and set it all up at your guest’s disposal.
Remind guests that the themes of the day are St. Patty’s and luck and encourage them to include that in their decorating ideas. You can even order edible printouts that go along with the theme.
Don’t forget to grab something to store the treats in, in case guests want to take them to go.

Brunch/Dinner
If you want to skip out on the activities altogether, that’s fine too. You can set up a beautiful brunch or dinner party, complete with delicious foods and drinks that fit the theme. At some point during the event, see if guests want to share what they want to manifest with their luck and make it a conversation facilitator.
What to Eat for Good Luck
Irish-inspired or thematic recipes that fit the bill.
Appetizers
1. Reuben Bites
While the Reuben isn’t exactly Irish, it is inspired by corned beef and cabbage, which has its roots in Irish culture. The sandwich is a pretty delicious spin on the meal. These bites take that a step further and make the Rueben sandwich into crispy, cheesy bites that are easy for guests to take and go.
2. Pesto Shamrocks
If there are going to be shamrocks, which considering the theme there should be, why not offer them up in edible forms. These pesto shamarock-shaped puff pastries look like they take a lot more work than they do and offer up a buttery, flaky, and nutty appetizer that will wow your guests.
3. Green Snack Platter
There is not much easier when it comes to appetizers than a snack tray or charcuterie board. Create a St. Patrick’s Day-inspired board stuffed full of green goodies to give your guests somewhere to graze, but also allow you to show off your color scheme in an artful way.
Lunch Ideas
1. Green Chicken Enchiladas
Enchiladas are easy to make and great for crowds. They are often light enough to not feel too stuffed, making them perfect for lunch or brunch. These enchiladas are bright in flavor and in color, and perfectly fitting with the green salsa verde that accompanies them.
2. Zucchini Rosette Tart
Pretty and delicious is always a good combination when hosting. This gorgeous tart is both stunning and makes for a perfect treat for a lunch crowd. The tart can be a beautiful display until you cut it up into artful pieces for each guest.
3. Corned Beef Sliders
Keeping with the theme of Irish-inspired or green, these corned beef sliders pay homage to the traditional corned beef meals inspired by Irish-American traditions. These sliders make the meal into shareable sizes, making for the perfect appetizers of sweetness and tanginess.
Dinner Ideas
1. Lamb Stew
There are plenty of places where March is still a bit chilly, especially in the evenings. You can combat that chill while feeding your guests an amazing stew they will adore. Stobhach Gaelach, or Irish stew, is a traditional dish that is packed full of hearty vegetables and meat. This one adds in Guinness for a complext flavor and a bit more Irish.
2. Irish Chicken in Whiskey Cream Sauce
The Whiskey Cream sauce is the most Irish part of this recipe, but it’s enough to make the list! The dish is simple, but the sauce creates a depth of flavor that guests will enjoy, and it is easy to pair with various sides.
3. Corned Beef and Cabbage
Inspired by traditional Irish meals and the Irish corned beef industry, Irish-Americans made corned beef and cabbage a staple in American cuisine. Now, we have multiple variations of the meal but sometimes, it is nice to just stick to the classics. This meal will bring all the homemade meal feels to your dinner table.
Desserts
1. Irish Cream Pistachio Fudge
Taking the best parts of Irish cream, the rich and creamy(and slightly boozy) flavor, and combining it with sweet white chocolate and the saltiness of pistachios makes this treat one for the books. The best part is that this can also be served up as a little parting gift for guests.
2. Irish Cream Panna Cotta
Panna Cotta, in my opinion, is one of the best dessert options for a crowd. I usually make it along with something similar in flavor and difficulty, such as possets, for the guests who don’t love the texture of the panna cotta. Either way, you have an easy-to-make, easy-to-serve, and easy-to-customize dessert option that never fails. Especially, this one with all of its sweet Irish Cream goodness.
3. Pistachio Tiramisu
Rich yet light and airy, this nutty and sweet confection is a crowd-pleaser. Even better, it’s made ahead of time, leaving you one less thing to do on your to-do list and giving the dessert’s flavors time to really meld.

Lucky Girl Drinks
1. The Good Luck Charm
The Good Luck charm is Jameson and elderflower syrup with a hint of lime, all wrapped up in a pretty green bow. The depth of the Jameson is balanced out well by the sweet florals and bright citrus, ensuring your guests will feel the luck.
2. Jameson Jello Shot
Take Jello shots up a notch on the class scale with these super pretty and super fun Jameson Jello shots. The shots fit the bill perfectly and look the part, all while adding some nostalgia to the vibes with the classic Jello shot party option.
3. Jalapeño Margarita Mocktail
Always include a sober option for your sober friends, and if you want to understand better how to do that, check here. This option is the perfect pairing with all of the green elements and bright, fun flavors. The jalapeño-cilantro simple syrup is a surprising mix but works perfectly.
4. DIY Whiskey Flights
Take your hosting up a notch by grabbing a few Whiskey (Whiskey, not Whisky, it’s St. Patrick’s Day after all) options and making a flight for guests to experience and try. Grab varying options, being sure to include plenty of Irish options, and write up the flavor profiles and taste notes for guests to accompany it. An editable Whiskey flight guide is available for you below. Just add in the taste notes of each Whiskey and print it out on quality cardstock!
